Keith Spring is President of Spring Stoops McCullen Engineering, PA. Keith began his career working for Knott and Roberts Engineering, while pursuing an Architectural Drafting Certificate at Durham Technical Community College. At the completion of the certificate program, Keith decided that he would like to further his education at North Carolina State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in December of 1983. Shortly after graduation, Keith received his EIT certification. He continued to work at Knott and Roberts and soon became a partner with the firm. In 1988, after four years of required engineering experience, Keith became a licensed Professional Engineer. He worked at the renamed Knott, Benson, Spring until April 2004. During these past twenty seven years, Keith has built a reputation for his responsive attitude and commitment to client satisfaction.
Keith has worked at colleges and universities, like the two institutions that prepared him for his future career. He has designed systems for government facilities and K-12 schools, including most of the schools in Durham County. Keith has experience with office building design and renovation, sports facilities, such as the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, and art venues, including the NC State Museum of Natural Sciences and the Royall Arts Center in Durham. For many years, Keith has developed relationships in the healthcare arena, in particular with UNC Hospitals. He has handled several of their annual services contracts and has been involved in many renovation projects. His opinions and advice are valuable to the clients that he serves.
Keith has extensive experience with all aspects of HVAC design, including energy analysis. He has designed plumbing and fire protection systems for renovations and new construction. His responsibilities include planning, cost analysis, project management, troubleshooting, and construction administration.
Keith lives in southwest Durham with his wife and their two daughters. Keith enjoys spending his free time training for triathlons. He and his daughters have been involved with the sprint length races since 2001. He particularly likes the bike portion and rides whenever he gets a chance. He also spends time camping with his family and boating at Beaufort, NC and on Kerr Lake. Keith is an active member of Triangle Presbyterian church, where he sings on the Praise and Worship team.
