Project involves the design and construction of new vertical
water tube boilers in the existing shops area of the Boiler
Plant. Also included are chemical treatment, water softeners,
and a deaerator, modifications to the existing shops area for
sprinkler, fire alarm, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general
construction and demolition of the four existing fire tube
boilers, deaerators, feedwater pumps and one surge tank.
The two (2) existing hydronic (hot water) heating
boilers serving the aquarium facility will be replaced with
multiple (two or three) boilers. The exact quantities, types and
capacities of the replacement boilers to be used on the project
will be determined during advanced planning phase and will take
into consideration the most cost effective efficient fuel type
(LP gas and/or fuel oil) available at the project site.
The existing 900 kW diesel generator on site currently feeds
both NEC 700 Emergency Loads and NEC 702 Optional Standby Loads
in the facility using only one automatic transfer switch. A
goal of the project is to both separate the Emergency and
Optional Standby Loads while also powering the entire facility
on standby power. This could be accomplished multiple ways by
a combination of existing and new generator(s), two automatic
transfer switches, one automatic transfer switch for Optional
Standby with battery lights to provide emergency lights, etc.
Renovation of approximately 1,500 square feet of space in the
existing Pharmacy. The Pharmacy space will be completed in two
phases with the new Gowning, IV Prep, Chemo Prep and Ante Room
being in Phase 1. Design includes new HVAC systems
for Phase 1 including a new Air Handling Unit (AHU) that is
proposed to be located across the corridor in an existing
storage room. Clean rooms will be ISO 7 and ISO 8.
